In honor of our very belated start of spring here in Minnesota, here are the gardens I most love to visit around the cities in the spring and summer.
I grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis, but I didn’t really start to explore the city until I moved there to go to college. It quickly became one of my favorite places—the sprawl of tree-lined streets, the tall stone buildings, the little cafes, the skyline across the river. At the moment, I live twenty minutes from downtown Minneapolis, and (with a very few exceptions) I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
A life update and a list of places in North America I want to visit in the coming months.
Last weekend, I drove to Chicago with my mom and my sister. I had never been there before, which seemed silly to me—I’ve traveled all over Europe but haven’t explored my own Midwest backyard.
My favorite part of the weekend was our evening spent in the John Hancock Center, which was recommended to me by a friend who has lived in Chicago for several years.
