Happy end of August! Since I’m not a student anymore, a shift in season doesn’t change up my daily routine very much, but pretty much everyone I know in Minnesota is a fan of fall nonetheless. Before we snuggle up at home for a long Minnesota winter, we enjoy the heck out of fall. The cool air is a relief after a summer of oppressive heat; the bustle in the city dies down a little bit; we pull out cozy sweaters and blankets for bonfires and hayrides; and fall favorites like apple crisp and pumpkin pie start to appear.
When I was studying abroad last spring, I got used to hopping on a bus and wandering all over England. My days were filled with hiking, exploring, and adventures. And when I got home and started working full-time right away, it was kind of a rude awakening.
I don’t like water, but I like the pale reflection of the sun stippled over the waves in the haze of evening. Bushy trees on land stand out starkly against the water that mirrors the sky.
As I explored a bit in a previous post, I’m working on creating a healthier lifestyle for myself, and diet is a big part of that. I’ve been eating vegetarian (actually pescatarian because I need my sushi!) and avoiding unhealthy, sugary snacks as much as I can. I’ve been pondering reducing my dairy intake recently as well, even though (and perhaps because) at the moment it makes up a major portion of what I eat.
I am a night owl. Were it left up to me, I’d be up till 2 every morning and sleep until 10. And though I get up groggy and exhausted most mornings, fighting the urge to go back to sleep for another five hours, somehow the last few months have also left me afflicted by an insomnia.
The other day, my housemate and I watched a video called 30 Cities to Visit Before You’re 30. (It’s a great video—lots of pretty pictures and fun facts about the cities.) My housemate and I both love to travel, and she’s been to a bunch of places I haven’t (mainly in Asia), so together we were able to check off a number of the cities on the list.
